red bull music festival

This is one of my University projects. I created this app (in theory) from start to finish.

This concept reimagines a festival experience as a game, where the more participants danced, the more energy they generated—with energy acting as both the metaphor and the mechanic at the heart of the experience.

To activate the idea, we designed a glow-in-the-dark can featuring a QR code that directed festival-goers straight to the App Store, where they could download the Red Bull Festival app. The physical product became the gateway into a fully immersive digital experience.

I designed the app as an interactive game. Participants competed in real time, building energy through engagement and speed. The ultimate reward was highly performative: the winner would zip-line across the crowd, press a giant button on stage, and trigger an explosion of fog and smoke—turning digital interaction into a shared, physical spectacle.

Thursdays became the festival’s main game night, with live-performing artists integrated into the experience. The core gameplay took the form of a quiz, where players followed clues to guess which artists would be performing. Faster responses generated more “Red Bull energy,” reinforcing the link between participation, excitement, and reward.

Beyond gameplay, the app included side menus allowing users to purchase festival tickets, explore the Red Bull Music Academy, and listen to featured artists—ensuring the experience combined entertainment, discovery, and brand engagement in one cohesive platform.
