clarks

This is one of my University projects. I created this app (in theory) from start to finish.

In the UK, school uniforms are a shared experience, and for many families, Clarks has become the go-to brand for school shoes—largely due to trust, quality, and convenience. While Clarks’ measuring tools help ensure the perfect fit, children inevitably outgrow their shoes long before the shoes themselves wear out.

Clarks believes its footwear is built to last. Using stitched construction rather than glue, the brand creates durable shoes that often remain in excellent condition even after they are no longer needed by the original wearer.

This concept introduces a circular return system, allowing families to give their outgrown shoes a second life. Through the app, customers can verify the condition of their shoes using AI or AR technology. Once approved, they receive a prepaid return label, making the process effortless. After Clarks receives the shoes, customers are rewarded with a 10% discount on their next pair.

To create a meaningful emotional connection, users can also track where their returned shoes are going—viewing the country, region, and age group of the next child who will wear them. The experience mirrors standard parcel tracking, but in reverse, reinforcing the positive impact of helping another child return to school.

The in-store experience reflects the same concept. Customers are welcomed with a campaign celebrating Clarks’ 200-year legacy of helping children go back to school. Shoes are placed in a designated scanning area where they are assessed in real time. As the shoes are scanned, a short film plays on a large screen, highlighting the brand’s history and craftsmanship. Approved shoes trigger a green light, while rejected items gently fade away, maintaining a respectful and transparent experience.

Once approved, customers receive 10% off their new shoes, access to the tracking feature via the app or website, and a pin reading “I’m going back to school with Clarks”—turning sustainability into both a reward and a story worth sharing.
